Located just off Interstate-20, midway between Augusta and Atlanta Georgia, Cuscowilla, is a 700-acre residential/resort community located along the shores of Lake Oconee. Cuscowilla features an award-winning Crenshaw/Coore designed golf course, exceptional Club and Lake facilities, beautiful private enclaves and homes; and luxury resort accommodations, including golf cottages.
Clubhouse & Amenities
Our 14,000 square foot, Frank Lloyd Wright inspired Golfhouse features a copper and cedar shake roof, stack stone, stucco siding and seamless glass throughout, providing an exceptional view of the golf course and Lake Oconee. Cuscowilla features two superb restaurants, The Golf House Grill, open for breakfast and lunch, and The Waterside, open for dinner and offering casually elegant dining.
Along with golf, members and guests may enjoy a day of boating and fishing on Lake Oconee, a friendly tennis match, a vigorous hike, the kid’s park, a professional massage or a relaxing day at the pool followed by dinner.
Enjoy the convenience of a second home, without the responsibilities. A private residence club, The Club at Cuscowilla offers more than nature’s beauty and superb recreation. Members enjoy the flexible use and comfort of expertly appointed accommodations. The Club Villas, designed to rival the finest country homes, provide a comfortably elegant ambiance for members, both inside and out.
In addition, Cuscowilla is the host site for the Southern Living Idea House. The property is located on the main lake surrounded by water on three sides. This spectacular home is approximately 6,000 sq. ft. large and includes 5 bedrooms with private baths and a bonus room. Included are large covered porches and open patios on both levels, as well as a stone terrace overlooking Lake Oconee to complete the perfect setting for resort guests and corporate retreats. The Southern Living Idea House is within walking distance of our helicopter pad.
The Golf Club at Cuscowilla is the vision of principals Heinz Nathe, Pete Bailey and Rolf Witt.
Desiring to create something special on the banks of Lake Oconee, the three developers made what would turn out to be one of many fortuitous decisions; the hiring of golf course architects Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw.
The highly acclaimed, Coore/ Crenshaw designed golf course is the centerpiece of Cuscowilla. Winding through rolling meadows and forests of pine, around distinctive ragged bunkers, and along the shoreline of Lake Oconee, The Golf Club at Cuscowilla evokes comparisons to the more subtle, but sophisticated, classical designs of Alister Mackenzie and Donald Ross.
Cuscowilla’s fairways are relatively generous and the holes require more skilled shot-making as you approach the greens. The greensites and putting surfaces were masterfully sculpted by Crenshaw and Coore and a well-honed short game is rightfully rewarded. A traditional strategic, risk-reward design Cuscowilla requires more brains than brawn and delights the player who can control his game.
Although both nines are well-conceived, the back nine is a bit more dramatic with an opening tee shot over a finger of Lake Oconee and a wonderful variety of holes with considerable elevation changes, towering pines and breath-taking scenery. At first glance, Cuscowilla astounds the player, but with each round, intimately reveals its true character. The finishing touch to the Cuscowilla golf experience is a traditional caddie program.
We are so convinced of the natural beauty and splendor of Cuscowilla, that we would like to extend a special invitation for you to experience our way of life.
